MotorPro Auto Repair is a Certified Private Inspection Facility (PIF)
The state of New Jersey requires passenger vehicles to be inspected for emissions-related issues every two years. New car owners are waived from inspections until five years of ownership. With such a long period of time between vehicle inspections, it can be easy for Morris County drivers to forget about it until it’s too late.
Check Your Inspection Sticker For Your Due Date
Is your car due for an emissions-only inspection? You can find out by checking your windshield’s sticker, which will verify the month and year in which your car needs to be inspected.
Schedule Your Inspection at a Certified Private Inspection Facility (PIF)
You have several options when scheduling your emissions-only inspection. State-operated inspection stations are situated throughout New Jersey with regulated days and hours of operation. If your car is being inspected for the first time, a NJ inspection station is an inexpensive option if you don’t mind waiting in a potentially long line! In some cases, you can schedule an appointment online or check wait times in advance of driving to the center. These state inspection centers don’t require an extra fee for inspection.
There are also private inspection facilities (PIF) available to perform inspections so you can save time on any potential lines at state stations. These facilities do, however, cost an additional fee. By law in NJ, any passenger vehicle that FAILS initial inspection will have to be re-inspected at a Private Inspection Facility (PIF). All commercial vehicles currently requiring an inspection will now be inspected exclusively at Private Inspection Facilities (PIF). There are exemptions, so check out this page to learn more: FAQs- changes effective Aug. 1, 2010: emissions-only [pdf]
Don’t Wait Until You Are Expired
Using a Private Inspection Facility (PIF) makes it easy to schedule a date and time for your vehicle inspection that works for your schedule. Making an appointment at a PIF also eliminates the unnecessary wait in long inspection lines at MVC Centers. You can schedule your inspection up to two months before the month listed on your windshield’s sticker.
